What's HTML

HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language is a markup language which is the most common one. You’ve heard of this if you want to play a scratch game offline.

History of HTML

HTML’s first version (HTML1) was made by Tim Berners-Lee who was a contractor in CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) who proposed and prototyped ENQUIRE which it’s first goal was to share and use documents which is kinda like modern day Microsoft Word from 1983 and Google Docs from 2005 and then later in 1998 proposed to the guys in CERN a hypertext system and this memo is where HTML1 was first realized. And then he later made a server and browser in late 1990 and then finally a document called “HTML Tags” was made and started HTML in late 1991. Since then, HTML has upgraded to its 5th version as of 2025 (The year I’m writing this).

How does this HTML thing work?

It works tags that work like this: “ text ” and it creates an “element”. There are many types of tags in html and so as elements. HTML is also backed up using CSS for design. I’m just actually scratching the surface.

Why and how should I use it?

It’s semi-easy for people who have or haven’t been coding things. Just search up stuff on Google or Youtube. And to put in a website, you can use NEOCITIES the place your seeing it from and plus, Neocities has a 10 panel comic-based interactive tutorial to show you the basics in html coding and it will be updated for stuff like color.
